જુનાગઢના નાક સમાન ગણાતાં અને મેંદરડાની નજીક આવેલા કનડા ડુંગર ઉપર આજથી 134 વર્ષ પહેલા 1882ની 29મી જાન્યુઆરી એ દિવસે જુનાગઢના રસ્તે બળદગાડાની હારમાળા ચાલી આવતી હતી. પરંતુ ગાડામાં ભરેલો સામાન કાંઇક અલગ જ પ્રકારનો હતો. ગાડાઓમાંથી વહેતું રક્ત રસ્તાઓને લાલ-તરબોળ કરી રહ્યું હતું, ત્યારે 90થી પણ વધારે ધડ વગરના એ શીશ હતા કોના ? એ શીશ  હતા મહીયા રાજપૂત શુરવીરોના. જુનાગઢના મહીયા રાજપૂતોઓએ અંગ્રેજ હકુમત દ્વારા જમીન ઉપરનો મહેસુલી કરના વિરોધમાં મહીયા રાજપૂતો સત્યાગ્રહ પર બેઠા હતા. આ રાજપૂતોને અંગ્રેજ હકુમતના શાસન દરમિયાન જુનાગઢના નવાબની ફોજે દગાબાજીથી મહીયા રાજપૂતોના શુરવીરોને મોતને ઘાટ ઉતારી દીધા હતા. અને માથાવાઢી ગાડા ભરીને જુનાગઢ લઈ જવાયા હતા. સમગ્ર દેશમાં અંગ્રેજ સરકાર દ્વારા મહેસુલી કર વસુલવાના નિયમ સામે દેશનો આ પહેલો સત્યાગ્રહ હતો, જેમાં 90 જેટલા મહીયા રાજપૂત સમાજના નરબંકા યુવાનોને જુનાગઢ નવાબની ફોજે કાવતરું ઘડી દગાથી તલવારબાજી અને ગોળીબાર કરીને મોતને ઘાટ ઉતારી દીધા હતા. જલીયાવાલા બાગ પહેલાનો દેશનો આ પ્રથમ હત્યાકાંડ જુનાગઢના પાદર સમા ગણાતા કનડા ડુંગર ઉપર 29 જાન્યુઆરીની 1882ની વહેલી સવારે થયો

Maiya The Mahiya or Maiya or મહિયા ક્ષત્રિય are a Hindu caste found in the state of Gujarat in India. They are also known as Mahiya Rajput and Maiya Darbar.[1] History and origin The community claim to have been settled along the banks of the Mahi river in Kheda District, so they came to be known as Maiya. They are believed to be descended from the Jadhav Rajputs. The community settled in Gujarat during the rule of Sultan Mahmud Begada, and moved into Saurashtra in the 16th Century. There they established states in Wankaner and the small states of Kuwadva and Than near Rajkot. A section of the some cast Maiya converted to Islam, and are now known as the Miyana. and other rajput cast covert known as MAHIYA now they are staying in junagadh District. They rebelled against the Nawab of Junagadh in 1882, and were suppressed.
